Having also read the more detailed advice from the BTO I have decided not to change much. They say flat surfaces such as bird tables are the biggest concern and although hanging feeders don't get a clean bill of health they are less of a problem. There is a concern of dropped food from feeders building up and getting contaminated but I don't have that problem as the feral pigeons and woodies mop up every dropped crumb the moment it falls to earth.
