Remainder of photos from yesterday.
I really was delighted by the wildflowers and I'm sorry the photos don't do them justice - drifts of marjoram were gorgeous and apart from the CHBs there were Gatekeepers, Small Heath, Meadow Brown, Walls and Whites in evidence + lots of bees - I could have spent hours just wandering the paths. My camera was also playing up so once I had a few shots I just settled into enjoying the the walk. Not sure what I will do regarding the camera issue - I think it's taken one knock too many but I will struggle on for the moment.

I have never seen a chalk hill blue Nice finds and photo's Germain.

Today Gosh and I went to look for Wood Whites Leptidea sinapsis - I had heard that there is a colony about 30 minutes from where I am staying - we had a wriggly drive through stunning countryside and some beautiful little hamlets - the more I explore Shropshire the more I fall in love with it.
We got to the site Bury Ditches - Iron Age hill fort, it's forestry commission land - I promised Gosh we wouldn't do the full walk as it was on the edge of being too hot for him even in his cool vest and there wasn't a lot of shade, we also had a huge walk on Wednesday for his birthday and my knees truly hate me for it. As luck would have it the WW were out in force - what a delightful, delicate little piece of tissue paper they are - very fluttery - made the Large and Green-veined look like lumbering great bombers in comparison

Never knowingly seen Wood Whites, not even sure if we get them locally. We really liked Shropshire when we visited a few years back, we were mainly around Ludlow, and thought that was a lovely town too.

Same for me, not aware of ever seeing them. Nice scenery Cin, not a county I have visited.

The map gives a bit of a indicator - I'd say Shropshire is well worth an explore at some time SM if you can get there - the old towns are lovely and scenery quite dramatic

Just looked up Wood Whites on Dorset Butterflies, copy pasted segment below.... are you trying to kill me? lol

Best places: Lyme Regis Undercliff. Please note, there have been landslips in this area, and searching for the butterfly may be hazardous. There used to be a colony at Powerstock Wood, but there have been no sightings since 2013, so it is probably gone from that location.

Nooo - look for places in the midlands so you can have a look en-route to other adventures - don't going playing on undercliffs
