It's definitely the way a lot of people work these days. 'Hot desking' means you just plug the laptop in to a nice big screen when you're sitting down but it also means you can take the laptop elsewhere. Best of both worlds really, just needs an HDMI to plug in to. You could even have the laptop next to the monitor as a second screen.

Thank you Kev. For me it is the way to go. Have to have glasses for close work. So a bigger screen makes more sense. And the oled panel is one of those that cuts down or out of the blue, so better for my eyes.
I have a HDMI to HDMI cable unopened in a packet. Is a metre long with gold plated connectors.

I did order the monitor on Friday, and would be delivered on the 30th. But those good people at DPD delivered it today, to get rid of the backlog. All set up and running. Have a couple of gripes that i need to sort out, first it dont go to full screen, it is alright north to south as it fills it up. But west to east there is an inch each side that is not filled. Plus it goes into energy save mode, so dims the screen. Must be a way to deal with it, but the screen has its own menu which is not easy to navigate. Can`t be done with the mouse. And after a couple of minutes it goes black. Will sort it out eventually no doubt. Cannot believe how thin and light the monitor is. And the colour is fantastic.

Gradually getting there. I can get full screen now, the computer prompted me to do, on the keyboard windows logo +P. Then it went to a menu where i could select what i wanted. With both screens on dont get full screen in monitor. So i selected monitor only and get full screen.
Need to sort out energy saving as it kicks in after around 60 seconds. And the screen goes duller. It is on the menu somewhere in the monitor, but not easy to navigate.

See if there's an online manual. They rarely put paper ones in the box these days. Sometimes too they and change brightness automatically depending on the screen content so that's also a setting worth looking for (auto dimming/brightness or similar).

Hi Kev and thank you. Those people at Asus are clever. When i got the monitor it came with all the connections needed. The one i use for the monitor is normal HDMI from computer to a very small connection on monitor. Today i noticed on the outward facing part that there is a small hole. And low and behold there is a photo cell in it. No doubt measures the light in the room as to how bright the monitor should be. And if i am not using the computer the screen on the monitor goes into sleep mode. So to wake it up i just wave my hand in front of the connector and the screen comes back on. The same when it goes into energy save. But dont want to be waving my hand every 60 seconds.

Just found out that the photo cell is called Human Sensor. It has settings of low medium and high, plus off. I set it to off and the energy saving never came on, but after 10 minutes the screen went off. My desktop done that and i just tapped the shift key to bring it back. Will try the human sensor on high and see what happens. If it sees i am on the computer it may delay energy saving and keep the screen bright. Am getting there.

Thank you JS, yes you are right. It takes a lot of patience, and sometimes it runs out. That is the time to walk away and try again later. I got the screen how i want it, was in extended mode so switched it to full. Now i can see the X in the top right hand corner and the date and time in the bottom. Just one thing left really and that is the sound, it is not very loud, so at some stage i will get a pair of usb stereo ones. I cant hear the bees buzzing or the butterflies flapping their wings. Joking aside, it is a very good setup, and the oled screens are something else. Even edited a lot of videos today. All went smoothly.
