5 baby great tits attempting to come to grips with the pond. Having a little drink and trying to copy a sparrow and a blackbird having baths. Very entertaining.

I'm as thrilled as a very thrilled thing

because just after tea tonight I happened to look out into the back garden just in time to see a Song Thrush bashing the bejasus

out of a snail. I am sure that's the first one I've seen in the garden for over 12 months

Lovely to read about your birdie activity. Sadly nothing as rare as GSWs or Song Thrushes in my garden or little Great Tits bathing in the pond but I had a Magpie shouting at me today! I was just having a little sleep in the the sun after my lunch on my day off and was awakened by a terrible squawking noise of a Magpie, standing quite close to me on my lawn with a bit of wholegrain and rye bread in it's beak. I can only guess it was telling me the food wasn't up to standard and it wanted some suet pellets and other goodies putting out. It was looking straight at me too when I opened my eyes as if it was making that noise for my benefit. It was possible it was because there was a cat sitting by me on the patio, but it was snoozing too and was a very benign cat, so I'm not that sure about that! I did put some more goodies out though - peanuts, suet pellets, sultanas and peanuts in shells. Unfortunately I could then see the feral pigeons lined up waiting for an opportunity for a feast - they are never far away!

First time for many years, a Song Thrush in the garden. Not just one but two.

And here they are.

Is the second one a juvenile?

Not 100% sure nuthatch. None tried to solicite food from the other so I think they were both adults.
