Probably on their second brood. Then it will be mayhem again.

Re: STARLINGS
Certainly seen evidence of a rare late brood (me'be two weeks later than the rest at most, but even then only a couple of Sturklets), but never of a second brood.
Setting up some Sturkie sized nesting boxes next year and one will have a camera. I know there will not be instant results, but am hoping that over the next five years, I can learn some new stuff about my most fav birds.

The young sturks are coming to the window feeder. I love it when they get on top of the wide open fly window and one comes inside sitting on top of the frame for a few moments.

RSPB indicate Starlings may have a second brood. Chicks here now developing their adult feathers. In two to three weeks I know I will get some more chicks with juvenile plumage. Not every pair will have a second brood.

Re: STARLINGS
I saw my first 2015 fledgling with a little bit of adult plumage today. The numbers of adults and fledglings has dropped significantly and those that remain don't show any sign of gathering food to take away for nestlings so I think mine are single brooders.
Re: STARLINGS
That is very interesting peregrine. Thanks for the info.
Like Jacksparra, mine are only one brood. One adult accompanies them (different adult each time I think).

I think the cooler nights are encouraging the birds back to the gardens. Today three Starlings clocked in for a chomp on the goodies. Welcome back Sturkies.

Re: STARLINGS
Some nice Sturkle vids featuring Lloyd Buck who is presenting at the Hawk Conservancy quite soon.
