Lovely summer was 76. I was working in the china clay pits at Lee Moor. Water from the monitors had a nice cooling affect. Was better working nights though, but managed to sleep ok during the day. No standpipes here, though it did prompt south west water to build another reservoir.

I was still in the navy in 76. During the heatwave we moved into our new home. It was a new build so the garden was littered with bricks and other building jetsam. In my infinite wisdom I decided to make a lawn using turf. The turf arrived with a barely a hint of green in the grass but we laid it anyway. I then cleared off back to my submarine leaving Mrs JS trying to keep the lawn alive with dozens of cans of water  I do know some who went to sea on a Polaris submarine patrol for 3 months and missed it all.
Yesterday and today poles apart from :hot: to :cloudy: and about 12 degrees centigrade.

For two days they were giving out warnings for heavy rain and thunder for Friday night. And what did we have. Sod all, it went farther along the coast. Nothing here where I am. Very hot today though.

Yeah, I'm jealous of the rest of the country who seemed to have fantastic storms. The map showing where the 21000 lightning strikes is well impressive. Except my area had nothing.

Mind you, we sat outside and had a lovely barbecue. Very pleasant.

One problem about where I live, it's always breezy.
