Great idea If Mobile phones can read Barcodes and Q codes, surely someone can write an app to read wing patterns.
Trap, scan, I/D, job done It would save hours of trawling online and through reference books to get an I/D !

Recently, I've been trying my new home made trap. Made from 2 buckets and a funnel. I use a 15 Watt black U/V bulb. It's not had the best of results so far, but last night it out performed the main trap :-

Flame Shoulder.
