It all looked normal but at the time when I expected the tadpoles to be massing in the jelly before free swimming it all seemed to break up. attrition from the newts hasn't helped the situation.

Quite a few of the surviving tadpoles were enjoying the sun today. They are starting to grow now. :)

While the sun was shining on the ponds this afternoon I took the chance to do a tadpole count. Not good news I'm afraid as I only saw one :(
It could be that the water is still cold and more will appear when we stop having such cold nights but I am not holding my breath. :shake:
