Best I can do without causing the bird any distress. Spends nearly all day in this position, which is where I now put some food. Don't think there is much to go on with the slightly clearer pics.

I think you'll just have to wait and see how the situation develops. As long as the cats don't get a say in the matter the old Sturk will either fly away or go to the great Sturk hunting grounds.

Agreed Jacksparra. Will only let things go so far. This bird does not deserve being cat-got. The Sturklets were screaming again today, which got Old Sturk off the ground pretty sharpish. I found Black Cat hiding away and drenched the little blurker with half a pint of water!!!!

I think I may have found where Old Sturk is roosting. Not far from the photos. I had to restore most of it tonight as Black Cat had partly demolished it. Assuming all is okay in the morning, I will firm up the area to make it un-catty!!!

Yep, Old Sturk is a really good looking bird nuthatch. The purples and greens shine when the light catches the feathurks.

As this is the only adult Sturkling visiting my garden, I would like think that the bird knows my garden. Me'be it is of a previous generation that discovered a good place for food, water and shelter. Hope so.

Aaaaaahhhhh, that's a 'lovely' tale, Jacksparrow. I'd expected something else ........
The ability to renew and recover is quite amazing.
