I have all sorts of birds (Goldfinches, House Sparrow, starlings etc) striking the window. Most recovery but one did die. I have put Butterfly Alert Decals on the window. So far. so good.

I have Butterfly Alert Decals on my garden windows, because that's where all the action usually happens, and thats where there was a couple of strikes by starling fledglings (thankfully with no injury/death) before I put them on, but my kitchen window is really not the one I thought would be a problem, because of its position/blinds  . It was more the matter of not paying attention/inexperience in flying I think. Equally stressful though :faint: . I haven't seen that fledgling since than, I'd like to think its doing fine :)

Window strikes are a bit distressing for all concerned. I have had quite few over the years but very few this year so far. It is hard to come up with a statistic on the survival rate but I think more survive than perish.

I saw a couple of jays earlier in my garden, in the middle of the day  . Nice looking birds, but I wouldn't want them sticking around since they scare all other birds :( . It looks like they were just passing through though.

A Sparrowhawk turned up today. I only caught a glimpse but it's arrival and departure coincided with my Robin having stopped singing. For a short while I feared the worst but about an hour later Mr Robin resumed his serenade.

Robbo had dived for cover like all the rest. I think the time for their reappearance varies greatly: some folk say 'hours', even 'days', but mine come back within the hour.
Always an arresting sight though, a sprawk.

There was a bunch of tits, about 15-20 of them around today, first time ever I saw that many together :rara: . They were busy eating on the feeders and taking seeds away as well, preparing the stash for the winter maybe :D . They were quite fearless too, landing on the tray alongside dove and starlings, totally not intimidated :shake:
No Sparrowhawk anywhere around, thank God :)

A nest on the ground under the tree, near a busy road. No sigh of any birds, no idea how it ended up there. It made me really sad :(
