The last remains of an adult Greenfinch(in reality a lot of feathers
) I'm not sure if it was a Sprawk or a Cat but the garden was fairly quiet today which would suggest the former.

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Another pile of Greenfinch feathers but this time the perpetrator will still in situ. A splendid(it has to be said) male Sparrowhawk was perched in the Rowan looking very satisfied. This fellow is very bold and refused to budge when I ventured in his direction and finally flew off when I got under the tree. For good measure he showed up again 4 hours later chasing another bird. He recorded a miss this time but my birds are now terrified and have not been seen since this morning

I've noticed that too - sprawks seem to have little or no fear of humans. They absolutely will not be deterred from their goal.
Had one once, clinging with outspread wings to next door's now long gone leylandii hedge, peering inside to try to spot lunch. I yelled, rattled scary stick mk. I - no reaction. Eventually I touched the bird with a twig and then finally it flew off, with very bad grace. 'Onestly, the language

The Sprawk seems to be clearing up the remaining Greenfinches after the tricho epidemic. Another pathetic pile of feathers on the lawn this afternoon

The Sprawk came for a look again today but despite having a good look around could find no-one to prey upon.
