PIED WAGTAILS
Re: PIED WAGTAILS
Where I am, there's quite a few. They like to stand on the wall by the buddleia and scrap with the butterflies.

Re: PIED WAGTAILS
Thought I had only ever had one Pied Wagtail in the garden. If fact there has been two. Jan 09 when there was snow and Feb 09 once the snow had cleared. Got pics somewhere. Will post if I can find.
Re: PIED WAGTAILS
I used to get them regularly, all winter long in fact. But last winter - not a single one.
Maybe it was the mild weather ?
I like waggies very much, cheery, active and good to look at.

Re: PIED WAGTAILS
Wagtails were once a common sight in my garden. I even got the occasional Grey as well as the usual Pieds. I cannot remember the last time I had either and even a visit up town fails to produce a sighting where once they were everywhere.
I have just checked the BTO GBW stats for the first three months of 2014 which shows records of PWs nearly 50% down compared with the same period last year. I don't know if alarm bells are ringing anywhere yet but perhaps they should be.

I agree, not as common a sight as in years gone by. As I last time any was in my garden was 2009. This are the two of them.
