WREN

Post by Placido » Sat Apr 20, 2019 8:36 am

Fancy that - we haven't had a proper Wren topic

Saw what must have been the same one twice today. Both times it had something in its beak and dived headlong into the holly bush which shares space with a clematis, a pyrawotsit and, until yesterday, an unwelcome cherry.
I reckon the wrens are sharing space with the dunnock menage a trois .

You appear to have an avian soap opera happening in your grounds. Thank goodness this is a family forum and we will be spared the spicier details

A very sage observation, Jacksparrow. Most perspicacious of you. There's a book in this ........

Didn't see one but heard one  this morning. Very loud, like a little corncrake .

I assure you that no Troglodytes troglodytes were harmed during this encounter !!
It's a well-known fact that pound for pound the wren has an astonishingly loud voice - particularly the 'chiiirrr' which sounds quite corncrake-y, hence my analogy.
Youtube abounds with little vids of wrens shouting their heads off:  (shout).

Just spotted a wren on my hedge, looking around for insects no doubt. Not seen one here in a while.

Two wrens in the garden this morning. Moving around the hedges.
