The blackbirds here seem to like to try various baths - we have a large bowl pond and a big pot with yellow flag in, as well as the bird baths. This year I put a little solar fountain in the pond near the edge, as some of the sparrows go in there. They've ignored it so far, but one of the female blackbirds loves to stand under it and get showered.
I'm afraid there are only bathing facilities in my garden. Those seeking the more exotic have to look elsewhere.

Jacksparrow, we're ver' cosmopolitan dahling.
I was forced to buy the solar fountain after seeing a video of multi-sparrow shower shenanigans.

I have a very friendly blackbird couple coming to my garden, which I find very unusual because blackbirds have always been very nervous and would always fly away quickly if I appear. Not this couple. They worked out around what time I come out to put the food out and its become a routine that they both fly in immediately and start collecting the food
while I'm still putting it out, and very near me
. I even move around and they still go about their business without a hint of a worry. They clearly have young in the nest and are feeding them. Never came across friendly and relaxed blackbirds, they are so cute

I have had some very friendly blackbirds. They get to know the usual daily routine and make themselves available to be first in the queue. It is usually males but the occasional female has been forthcoming. This year I have one male but he's not the bravest I've had. It always cheers me up when I think they trust me.

Very nice butterfly. Sometimes I get the odd male that comes quite close.

Mine was waiting on the fence near my back door this morning. I showed him the bag of sultanas and he followed me over to the bird table. As soon as I had tipped a few he was down like a shot.

We're the same. Sometimes we just have to open the curtains and there's a sweet little expectant face there.
They're very brave aren't they - and can get up to 7 soaked sultanas in a beak at once! The kids must be getting sugar rushes with all that sweet fruit being force fed to them.

Last week or so, was admiring all the purple berries on the berberis. This evening not a berry left. Did see a blackbird now and again jumping up to grab a berry, and even a woodpigeon. Did not take long to strip it clean.

Tell me about it.. a couple of weeks ago I was thinking I'd pick the cherries the birds had kindly left us - two hours later the entire tree was bare. We had about 20 for ourselves this year..
