One of the blackbirds looks to be a juvenile female. Can get to within a few feet of it before it flies off. But not far, just on the top of the hedge.

I have some more who have returned. They're plundering my grapes at present which is is fine as it is partly why I grow them.

All was well with the world today. More Blackbirds than I've seen for a while and they were all arguing over the food and chasing one another. :blackbird: :fence:

Had a male blackbird in the car park this morning. Helping itself to live mealworms. Ate quite a few.

The Blackbirds living in my garden at present seem a little different to those that have gone before. The males mostly had black beaks rather than the usual yellow and the females appear quite dark in colour. This year they have stripped my cotoneasters of berries when previously they have been left for the Woodies. I have not made friends yet although they have realised that I'm the provider of sultanas so my movements are closely monitored. One of the females tends to ignore me and carry on with her business. The one thing that hasn't changed is their willingness to argue and chase one another around. :blackbird: :blackbird:
