It looks like there are pro and cons. On balance I think supplementary feeding does more good than harm. Blue tits and Great Tits are less fussy in their diet and habitat and hence more successful.

I don't think its garden feeding that affects the balance, its destruction of habitat and food for birds and wildlife by humans.

After the hectic months of the breeding season I am starting to see a slight change in the demand for food from the hanging feeders. A couple of weeks ago they were emptying the feeder on a daily basis but now things have returned to normal levels. Phew!

I have been kept busy today keeping the bird baths topped up and we haven't reached maximum temperature yet!

Will do mine this evening. Tip out the old water and put in fresh for the bath and hedgehog waterer.

For unknown reasons the hanging feeders have got busy again. I'm wondering if the very hot weather has made some of the usual food hard to find. :shrug:
