My starlings are slowly coming back, and starting to take their baths, sure sign that spring is here :)

Good spot. It's a few years since I saw one in the wild. :(

I think I heard a starling fledgling this morning :faint: , I looked everywhere and couldn't see it, but the sound was unmistakable. Prepare everyone :dj:

I would be really surprised if you heard a fledgling Starling. For that to happen the parent birds need to have met, build a nest and mated in very early March. I think we have a few weeks to wait yet. I heard an adult " singing" from a TV ariel the other day and because of the distance between myself and him all I could hear was the squawky bits. I respectfully suggest that is what you heard. The real think will be along soon enough.

I think you are right Jack, I thought it was too early for fledglings, it must have been a funny sounding adult.

Today I had a visitor which I have never seen before in my garden. I happened to look out under the hanging feeders to check what the pesky feral pigeons were up to and saw no pigeons but a very handsome Jay. I was delighted to see this as new ticks on my species list are very hard to get nowadays.
