Small pile of feathers in the garden just now. Either a dunnock or robin fledgling. Cat or hawk no doubt.

A black cat is a regular visitor, so could well be that one.

There is a new woody fledgling in my garden :D . They are always so cute and innocent and clumsy looking :hug2: . Got pushed around a bit by an adult when it tried to get on a food tray, but eventually found a way to get some food

Good to see Butterfly. Have only had the one here so far this year, and that was a while back.

Crows are not rare in my part of the south midlands but they are a rare visitor to my garden. Today was one of those days. It's prize was a sultana which I thought for a bird that size was a poor return on the energy used. :shake:

I am lucky to have few crow visitors, and I noticed that myself, they sometimes come and eat few suet pellets  , as you said Jack, for a bird that size it looks like its not worth the effort but I guess they know better :D

There was another sparrowhawk attack! :wife: I heard the familiar alarm calls, mainly by magpies, went outside to check and startled the sparrowhawk, who had a starling pinned to the ground. As the sparrowhawk flew away, starling flew to the nearest shrub and hid there. I could see its tail, but thought to leave it and give it a chance to recover from trauma. When I went to check later, I could still see the tail, it wasn't moving.
So I went there, took it in my hand and saw that it was dead :( . There was no visible injuries, which makes me think that it probably died of heart attack due to the stress and fright :( . So sad :(

It is never good to witness a Srawk attack. I have scared a few off over the years but they often return, unseen, for another go. That's the way nature is I'm afraid. :(

Sad to see butterfly. Gardens are good hunting grounds for such birds.
