Starling killers

Post by Bipman » Sat Jun 12, 2021 3:02 pm

Hi all

I heard a commotion in the garden and went out to find some starlings pecking what looked like a juvenile bird on it's head and eyes until it was dead. Has anyone seen that before?

Never seen or heard of Starlings attacking another bird. They do get a bit assertive when food is on offer but only to make sure they get their share. A very strange occurrence.

Hello Bipman,
I've had starlings on my feeders regularly for few years now, and in different places, and I've never seen or heard anything like that. Usually they are the ones that are attacked. Very very strange.

I must admit it was something new to me too. I've seen crows etc. get aggressive but not starlings.

A young starling. Sorry about the delay in replying, the email reminder for the site doesn't seem to be working.
