Flying around a seventh century coaching inn, or possibly fifth , the sky was full of HMs.
Having a wonderful time in the sunshine. I imagine they have been nesting there for a thousand years. I occasionally caught snatches of the Latin vulgate.

I have seen no sign of my Swifts this week. Have they started back to sub-Saharan Africa or gone higher in the sky above the clouds?

I think most of them departed when the cooler, damper weather kicked in during the first 10 days of August. Empty skies until may 2018peregrine wrote:No Swifts in Dumfries for at least three weeks, all gone.

Not seen any swallows here for the past 2-3 days. Don't care for these empty skies.

Set out for my walk this morning, got less than a hundred yards along the road and low and behold, a swallow flying over the rooftops. First swallow of the new season folks.
