To be fair to Blackbirds in general that's the way they operate. They just don't like other birds in what they regard as their territory. He's not seeing a baby he's just seeing another bird invading his space.

You are right Jack, he is probably just making sure that the young one knows who's the boss , plus, I think that fledgling belongs to the male that he had few fights with which doesn't improve his mood I guess

Finally getting Blackbird chicks. This one came but no parent. Must be fully fledged and on its own.

I only have one Blackbird still in the garden. The remainder have departed to get rid of the old feathers and grow the new.

There I was at ten o'clock this morning sat in the dining room enjoying my morning coffee when out of the corner of my eye I see a brown shape shoot underneath the table I'm sat at A little nonplussed I start looking for my visitor under the table when suddenly a female Blackie popped into the window but this time she's inside instead of the normal outside. I pause for a second as I realise a panicked B/bird is going to cause havoc among Mrs JS's treasured ornaments. The bird makes one attempt to fly through the window pane and falls onto the window sill. I approached cautiously and managed to reach the large opener. I opened it slowly and she exited with a defiant tweet and cluck. No harm was done save the little deposits left on the carpet and window sill My visitor had come in through the back door and walked all through the house to the front.I saw her again about half an hour later scuttling around as though nothing had happened .

No way! That's unbelievable Jack, and so good to hear there was a happy ending to that story
