I wish it was the time of the year when the Starling chicks leave their parents and the feeders get back to normal. I fill the feeders in the morning - sunflower hearts chips, peanuts, fat balls and suet block. The fatballs (four) and suet block are usually gone within 2 hours. Earlier today there were about fifty Starlings (adults/chicks) and among that lot a solitary male Chaffie.

I know what you mean peregrine, my last garden used to be like that, with I'd say with even more hungry noisy starlings . Its like that in all gardens with starlings at the moment, everyone is talking about them You can't not love them though, they always made me laugh .
I don't know what's happened with my starlings, there was around 20 of them, than the parents left, than they disappeared, from 2-3 young ones who are hanging around. The adults come occasionally to have a quick bite and that's that. They little ones are ever so quiet . I don't even have to fill the bird bath that often. Its all so strange

I haven't had to cope with big numbers of Sturklets. Ten at the most but what I lack in numbers they're making up in noise levels.

Seems like I have a second wave of young starlings. Some are quite aggressive where food is concerned.

As it was JS mentioned on springwatch tonight with a photo. They have come a lot farther west this year. The one I seen a pic of was on the rspb forum. And the starling was up in sunderland.

Noticed an adult starling taking back food to the nest. Second brood?
