Wow nuthatch lovely woodpecker. I see them down the woods here but never in my garden. Well done to you.

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Today I was blessed with a visit from a juvenile Song Thrush. The purpose of it's visit turned out to be to have a bath in my wildlife pond. It circled the slabs at the pond side for a little while before trying to land on the Lily pads. The first couple of attempts had to be cut short as it went in too deep but it eventually found the right amount of support and gave itself a prolonged ablution.

Took these this morning:-

Yesterday afternoon there was one goldfinch chick cheeping on the fence flapping its wings up and down then a bit later there were the two parents feeding three chicks.

Have just seen a woodpecker again - rather foolishly, in hindsight, I opened the window at the bottom of the stairs to try to get a pic and spooked it away.peregrine wrote:Well done nuthatch, remember my first GSW. Now I get Male and female regularly.
I had been still chuckling about the first one I saw - really, given our situation, I couldn't have been more surprised had I seen an albatross or a penguin but OH reckons they could be anywhere, where there are trees.
I suppose I must miss things because unless I actually go to the narrow window and look out I don't see anything in that garden
