OMG. I've had bald blackbirds but never a Robin

I know, he looks so weird, poor thing . Very difficult to take a picture of him as he is very quick and doesn't stay in one place.

My poor bald Robin was collecting mealworms for his babies I guess, as he was taking them away. I managed to film him just for a few seconds, its not the greatest video but his odd looking head is visible with feathers missing at the front of the head. Hi is acting totally normal though, which is a good sign, poor little darling



You can hear the noise from starlings in the background, its like that all the time

My Robin was singing his autumn song today which was unsurprising given the current weather.

Spoke too soon. On my way out for a walk this morning and noticed a juvenile robin in the garden.

I have befriended a robin. he doesn’t sit on my hand yet but he touches my hand and flies around very close to me. I am feeding him with small amounts of oats every day for few months now. I thought that maybe I could make a nice surprise for my little friend today and I bought some dried mealworms. I soaked them in boiled water, left it for over 40 min and served it to the robin but unfortunately, he seems to be not interested. He ate one worm and that’s it, he much prefers the oats. Is there something I did wrong? Should I continue to give him the worms?

Robins much prefer live mealworms but will take the dried ones. I don't think there is any need to soak them before offering. If your Robin is happy to take the oats all well and good but there is no harm in trying other stuff. Don't forget you just supplementing it's usual diet so there may be days when there is not much appetite for anything,

Hi Roman 111 and welcome to the forum. Robins will eat allsorts of foods, peanut nibbles, sunflower hearts and suet pellets. If you want to give it a real treat, live mealworms usually go down a well. Can be rather expensive though. It is the postage now that has gone up. I buy live mealworms to give to certain birds that i get. Your local petshop may sell them, that way will cut out the postage. I buy 500gr at a time and usually last around 2.5 to 3 weeks.
