There was another attack by a sparrowhawk this morning, and another starling died

. It clearly targets starlings. Its so depressing.
It's the natural world. Happy endings are in short supply.

Whilst cranking down the drawbridge this morning there in the middle of the lawn was a brand new woodpigeon, all alone and not a care in the world. It's come to the right place

. Funny how they know.

What I saw today was not much at all. The number of visits has dipped considerably over the last week or two with sparrows and members of the pigeon family being the only regulars. It is the usual autumnal story and I doubt there will be an upturn for at least six weeks

Same here except I do have quite a few blueys and of course the ever-present dunnocks. No blackbirds at all.

Not seen any blackbirds for weeks. But plenty of starlings and sparrows. Usually get a visit from a wood pigeon or two.

Back in the day, Sunday was bath day. Different standards then, to which sparrows apparently still adhere
