FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING
FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING
I'm sure we ought to have a 'First signs of Spring' thread
It comes earlier each year
The Woodland Trust has an interesting project called 'Natures calendar' ...........

Re: FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING
A good idea for a thread. A couple of us have made comments in other threads about flowers appearing and in my case Bluebell leaves shoving through.
Re: FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING
I liked the idea of that Nature's Calendar but when I looked at it a couple of years ago I was completely bamboozled by the detail in it - all the different varieties of one flower etc - and couldn't be sure what I would be recording was accurate
I was a bit dismayed by it all really but it must be riveting if you are more knowledgeable and able to recognise the differences in the flowers, plants, insects etc.

Blue Tits and Great Tits have been investigating the nesting boxes. The Collared Doves have been a cootin' and this site won't allow me to say what the Woodpigeons have been doing .....
Re: FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING
Just found a Peacock Butterfly in the shed. It was on the underside of a sheet of plywood. It was exercising its wings, so I put it back carefully.
I wonder how long it will be before it ventures out?

Re: FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING
I have noticed that the tips of my Bluebell leaves have started pushing through. Nothing like making an early start.
