Good progress today and most of the unwanted growth is out of the pond. A few frogs were displaced unfortunately but they made their own arrangements for new accommodation.

A very laudable task, Jacksparrow . They'll thank you for it one day. Weather's set fair.

The old liner is nearly ready to be removed :) I've bucketed out most of the water and all the marginals are put to one side for thinning out. The water lilly is now resident in an old trug awaiting it's new home. One of the frogs refused to recognise that change was afoot. I transferred it twice to the other pond and it returned each time when I wasn't looking.
Hopefully the new liner will arrive tomorrow when I will undertake the messy and smelly job of removing the old one from where it has been for the past 20 years. Where does all the mud come from?

Nice one.

The mud is all the droppings from frogs etc, dead insects and leaves/plant material all falling to the bottom. 20 years of biological detritus :) .

Thank you Kev. That accounts for the smell. To be honest I was not trying to hard to imagine what was happening. :shake:

I missed the delivery of the liner by 5 minutes banghead so installation is now Monday at the earliest. :(
Also the heavy rain has started refilling the pond again :rain: :grumpy:

The missed 5 minutes may very well have put a crimp in the liner installation timetable .
Ongoing forecast not good, not good at all. The torrentials are coming in and no mistake. Do you have a tarp?

Not one big enough :( I have baled it out once and at least one more time looks to be on the cards :rain: :sadbanana:
