I did some minor work separating a clump of marginals in the nature pond today. This king of job always disturbs some of the residents and today was no different. There were still tadpoles to be seen plus this years froglets in various sizes. A couple couple of adults leapt from somewhere back into the pond causing quite a splash. This always bring back memories of the mobile phone saga I had about 10 years ago. :dunce:

Pond levels have dropped very low due to the hot weather. The plants are all looking well but for how much longer? I may have to get the hosepipe out for a top up.

Water lilies are lovely plants requiring little maintenance. You are told to get the pot grown ones out of the pond from time to time to cut off excess growth. I had left this job for many years in my one pond and it had stopped flowering and was commanding far too much space. Today I dragged it out and gave it the big trim. I'm looking forward to many more flowers next year plus some more wildlife now they have more room.
