Did look them up JS. looks like suet pellets. Some years ago i did read an item somewhere that a way to feed tadpoles in your pond is this. Cut a quarter inch square piece of beef and thread some cotton through it. Hang it on the side of the pond. Bring in at night.

I will bear it in mind if this years tadpoles are fussy eaters.

I caught a glimpse of a this years froglet this afternoon. They very often find their way on to the rockery which is next to the wildlife pond and that is where I spotted it. The class of 22 tadpoles have been very reclusive so I had no idea that any of them had reached that level of maturity.

The recent severe frosts put a 2 inch covering of ice on my ponds. I did my best to clear a small area every day but last week it had got too thick for several days. Today I found 3 dead frogs floating on the surface

. There may be more to come when the thaw is complete.

Final count was 7 dead frogs all mature adult size. I have had dead ones before after very cold weather and numbers do slowly recover.
