Re: BUTTERFLIES
My Buddlia is now in full bloom but there are no butterflies to enjoy it.
I think it has been a disastrous year for butterflies compared to what I've been getting in recent years. I think the northerly winds have prevented species such as Painted Lady and Red Admiral which are largely migrants coming across the channel from mainland Europe. The usual whites such as the Large and Small have not appeared as usual. They are normally very common but not this year.

Same here JS, buddlia well in flower and not one butterfly on them. Did get to see two red admirals today though.
Re: BUTTERFLIES
I've got a teeny buddleia with a couple of big flowers on, but it's had no takers. We don't get many butterflies here, I hoped a firm favourite might catch the attention of a few. It's been stupidly windy for the last 3 summers too, and the below average temperatures are pleasing neither man nor beast.

Re: BUTTERFLIES
I was pleasantly surprised today when I happened to be passing my buddleia to see a Painted Lady enjoying the nectar. The first this year.

Re: BUTTERFLIES
A decent day today and two butterflies came to visit. A Holly Blue and a Large White.
Re: BUTTERFLIES
Good news JS. I looked at the buddleia today as I was going that way. Not a single butterfly and there are loads of the shrubs there. Is well into flower, and some are already dying off to seed.
