Re: Ospreys

Still no chick at Loch Arkaig. Going by the date laid and incubation period, the first egg laid will be due to hatch on Friday 26 May. Here's hoping.

Loch of the Lowes

Looks like the 2nd chick to hatch came from the 3rd egg. 1st chick to hatch came from the 2nd egg laid. !st egg laid (4 April) probably won't hatch.

Re: Ospreys

LM12 at Loch of the Lowes has just brought in a fish, minus the head. NC0 took the fish and is feeding the chick. He must have recovered from whatever was bothering him. Egg no.2 must be near hatching.

Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY

Male Blackcap has disappeared, probably away breeding. He will build a few rudimentary nest, one of which the female pick and fashion into a cup shaped nest. Male will help with the incubation and rearing the young. Don't expect to see him for a while.

Re: SWIFTS, SWALLOWS AND HOUSE MARTINS

First House Martin arrived 26 April. No sign of any Swallows yet. Martins and Swallows are usually here mid April so they are about a week late, Swallows about two weeks.
