Yes butterfly, they will take a hedgehog if they can. One trick they use is to stand behind it and not move. Then when the hedgehog starts to walk which may take a while, grab hold of it by its back leg.

I think the mother has moved on and left the juveniles to fend for themselves. Had a quick look in the box today and noticed a lot more bedding has been added, mainly man made, so cant see what is in there.

My numbers have dropped and a little food left over in the morning. The juveniles are still around though.

They will still hibernate even if a bit on the mild side JS. my numbers have dropped this past week.

Hi JS, the cold they can cope with, however deep snow would be another matter, as it would be hard for them to get around, but those kind of winters are quite rare down south. Last night had observed a late juvenile go into a feeder that is seldom used. Just looked into it and there is a mother with two juveniles in there. Not really tiny juveniles, so am a bit surprised that they are all still together.
