I think young Woodies don't recognise us as a threat when they have just fledged. I have not seen one this year which is strange as I have Woodies in the garden all ...

Re: BLACKBIRDS

My Blackbirds have made a start on eating the Rowan berries. I had a very patchy crop this year and they won't last until winter starts properly.

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs

Because of the heavy rain I shifted the hogs feed bowl back under my covered patio. It has not been there all summer but the hogs remembered where it use to be and came into the dry to get their food.

Re: BUTTERFLIES

I see that butterflies have had a poor year in the UK generally. This came as no surprise to me as I hardly saw any during what is usually the high season for them. I said at the time they were scarce and it had to be down to the poor summer we just had. Cool and wet weather is not butterfly weather.

Re: POND PLANTS

Water lilies are lovely plants requiring little maintenance. You are told to get the pot grown ones out of the pond from time to time to cut off excess growth. I had left this job for many years in my one pond and it had stopped flowering and was commanding far too much space. Today I dragged it out...

Re: BUTTERFLIES

I had two Red Admirals in the garden today. The ivy blossom is at it's best currently and they were attracted by that.

We get geese occasionally usually flying in formation honking loudly. Always Canada Geese.

Re: STARLINGS

I think The Starlings have had a good breeding season this year. I get a couple of visits daily from a very big flock.

Haven't been on for a while. It looks like all Ospreys, adults and chicks have left for warmer climes. Roll on 2025 season. Wonder if the chicks sent to Spain are also heading south as well.
They jolly well ought to be. They've had a lift half way to Africa.
