Lean pickings this morning, but a new one for this year, and that is a red admiral. Plus an orange tip, small white and several speckled wood.

After quite a wet morning an Orange Tip had a brief flutter about this afternoon.

Today while out the lanes. Three orange tip, three small whites, a large white and numerous speckled wood.

Good for mid April. I'm hoping all butterflies have a good year this year.

Another painted lady this morning, making three this year. A mention for the speckled wood, that I hardly ever do, is the most common one I am seeing so far.

I am really surprised by the Painted Ladies. I think they may have hibernated.

Three hogs spotted last night around midnight. Word soon got round that I was putting out food again.

Had some good spots while out this morning. a holly blue and large white, two orange tip and four peacock. None stayed put long enough to get any clips.

I have had the same cock Blackbird in my garden for a couple of years. In previous years I've seen him "fishing" for tadpoles in the shallow end of the nature pond. There was a fledgling robin in the garden this morning. Not too bad at flying, but with all the cats around here, it had better stay high up.

A very early fledgling. Well spotted Willpar.

My daughter spotted a hog last night in the garden. That is the first for 4 months. Food was put out and eaten.

Another Peacock and a couple of Orange Tips today. There was also another Holly Blue fluttering around the ivy.
