Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

My bird visits have dropped off again. Even the usual suspects seem to be fewer in number. I may have had a Sprawk visit to scare them off but I didn't see it. :(

Have a house sparrow currently roosting under the porch roof. It flew out at dusk but came back. So just went out with a small torch and found it.

Re: BLACKBIRDS

I had some great entertainment from my Blackies today. I currently have 6 regulars and when I put out the sultanas competition is intense. One of the males thinks they're all for him and guards them fiercely but unfortunately(for him that is) he can only be in one place at a time. A rival for the fo...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

I had four Greenfinches all at the same time on the SFH feeder. That is the highest count in many years.

Re: FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING

Winter has barely started and I've seen the first signs of spring. Snowdrops in flower outside a house about 150 yards from mine. I also have a daisy in flower on my lawn though a little modest compared with a drift of snowdrops.

I still have two that visit JS. No sign of hibernating. Is on the warm side though.
I have now put some food out and I will monitor the consumption. :)

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

Great birds to have visit butterfly. I get a goldfinch now and again, but not seen a chaffinch. There was a time when a Chaffinch was viewed as being one of the usual suspect in my garden, but not anymore. :( There has bee n a steep decline in their numbers and no-one is absolutely certain of the c...

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs

I had a visit from a Hog last night. I didn't see it but a lovely CC was left. The mild weather obviously tempted it out. :hedgehog:
