Re: BUTTERFLIES

Amazing! I'm not expecting to see any butterflies up here or any other insects. Well spotted Willpar.

Re: BIRD FEEDING

It has been a very cold week but most of the time I've been able to have water available in at least one of the bird baths or the ponds. Last night was the coldest so far and all their water was frozen solid. It was a minimum of one inch thick on the ponds. Using hot water and a jug I managed to tha...

Re: ROBINS

I read an interesting article about Robins in the BTO's weekly newsletter. We are all familiar with their habit of turning up whenever there is any human activity in the garden. We also know that some Robins become almost tame and will take food from our hands if it is offered. Apparently these trai...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

The berries on the ivy are being eaten by the Woodies. The berries are still green but seem irresistible to the pigeons, The was 7 of them gobbling them down this morning.

Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY

A very windy and rainy day and I have seen very little wild life. I don't blame them as I could have stayed in bed and missed nothing.

Re: Squirrel

Good natural foo JS. Aren't they a bit sticky? Yes they are. The new arrival squirrel is a bit braver than the resident. I caught it raiding the feeders twice today but it only shifted back into the tree while the other always scarpered off out of the garden. My waved arms and threatening behaviour...

Re: Squirrel

I had two squirrels in the garden this afternoon. For once they weren't trying to get at the hanging feeders. Todays target was the rosehips of the Dog Rose which I have never noticed before.

Re: TREES

Thank you JS, i had a read up about it but says that ash and rowan are not related. But my rowan has lesions on it like it says ash has. At the base there is a very big gash in it ore something like that. When the weather is a bit better will make a video of it to show what is going on. But it the ...

Re: TREES

Went out with bird food this morning, noticed that one of the limbs f the rowan had broken off in the wind. Not a large limb hick wise. First thing I had noticed after I picked it up was how light it was and completely dry inside. Had noticed that for a couple of seasons it had a bit of die back on...
