Re: Ospreys
Such a shame, hope it was not persecution. I'd say it definitely was a prosecution, otherwise the police wouldn't be asking for any information. Its just abhorrent. And tragically, this is likely to become another prosecution brushed under the carpet. This will continue until there is a punishment ...

Re: MICE
I have a bucket near my outside tap, which I left half full of water yesterday, not bothering to empty it. That was a mistake because today, I looked in the bucket (was going to empty it) and saw a dead mouse inside. It clearly fell in and couldn't get out, and just drowned :cry2: I was thinking wha...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
About this time every year I have a pair of fledgling Jackdaws. The nest is in a chimney about 5 doors away. The parent birds are with me most of the year. This year there are three fledglings and they are pillaging the fat balls. That's lovely JS , jackdaws fledglings are so cute, with their...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
I have been away for a few days but my daughter has been keeping an eye on the feeders etc. She says the Starling fledglings have been arriving over the weekend but two of them have been killed by the Sprawk! Such a same :( it seems that their fledglings have been decimated this year , both by cats...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
I have starlings fledglings in my garden and area around me, but I've seen very few this year :( . They usually hang around my garden because of the food and bathing facilities provided, and its been around a week since I saw/heard the first one, expecting to have the usual mayhem following, but not...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
It is nice to see the doves which are now rare visitors in my garden. I do get other members of the pigeon family in good numbers so I'm wondering if the doves don't enjoy their bigger cousins being around. I get plenty of wood pigeons and stock doves as well, luckily not feral pigeons, and...

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
I am delighted to report that I saw not one but 2 hedgehogs in my garden last night, at the same time! :hedgehog: :rara: Since I made my garden accessible for them by making 2 holes in my garden fence, I kept getting a glimpse of one (might be a different one every time  ) hedgehog coming fo...

Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
What I didn't see today or any other day for some time now is a Collared Dove. Not so long ago there always seemed to be a least a pair hanging around waiting to get on the SFH feeder but I haven't seen one for months. I have not read anything suggesting they were struggling but my own theo...
