That's a cause for celebration I think , they are such cool birds to have around . I am really lucky to have a couple of them coming to my feeders . They seem to like hanging fatball/suet feedersJacksparrow wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 8:53 pmToday I had a visit from a GS Woodpecker . It was on the fatball feeder. to the best of my knowledge that is the first time for about three years.

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
I have a male and female GSW that come in and on one occasion both together. Not had any chick yet but I keep hoping. They like the peanuts and fatballs. They tend to come in and out for about a fortnight and then disappear for a while. Last visit was last week and they haven't been in since.Jacksparrow wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 8:53 pmToday I had a visit from a GS Woodpecker . A trio of two`s. Standing on my front door step, a pied wagtail was on the path on top of the steps. Threw it a couple of mealworms. Other pied wagtail appears from behind a car. Threw it some mealworms. Then two dunnocks turn up in the carpark. Then a robin appears on top of the steps and that one was joined by another.

A male Blackcap. I spotted him flitting around in the now leafless Rowan. His task was to get at the few remaining berries. Starlings and Blackbirds eat most of the berries but they can't get at the ones on the flimsy outer branches. Being a good deal lighter these berries were now problem for him.
Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Good one jacksparrow. Not had any here for a few winters now.
But this morning a robin was having breakfast with the pied wagtails. It dashed out from under a car.

Not see one for a few winters, but have had a visit from a blackcap. Think it may have been a male.

Despite the colder weather business at the feeders remains steady. I'm thinking it will require a fall of snow to bring the birds back to the garden.
Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
I had a lovely little wren in my garden today, foraging and exploring , such a treat to have these cute birds around
Still no sign of blackbirds. I see them in my neighbour's garden, but for some reason they are boycotting mine

Hi butterfly, wrens are such lovely birds. I seen one flitting about the hedge a couple of days ago. Last year i had two of them. Another i am hoping to see is a goldcrest. Not had one for several winters now. Seems it has to be extremely cold for that. But i keep looking.
