To impart the atmospherics of the moment - the sun was shining through that particular window and the first thing I sensed was the moving shadow in the room. Doubt I would have been aware otherwise :)
I just love the "First Of The Year" anything  :D

Had a White Tailed Bee land on my tripod today. We've had loads of Bees in the garden this year. Let's hope they have a good year :)

Got a video of this bee today. Never seen one like this before. Looked it up and came up with:- Bombus Pascuorum. Is could well be a queen. Seems it is a type of honey bee. That's if I read it right. Plus the wing beats were that fast it comes over as slow on the video.

The long bit in the front is where it keeps its tongue. So must be able to get deep into flowers.

I heard that the US is rethinking its policy(?) on bees and monarch butterfiels because it's discovered that it doesn't have enough of them !!!

Atout work carpark today a swarm of bees turned up and was sat at the end of a branch on one of the trees. I'm glad my car wasn't under it.
The receptionist called the bee people and they said the queen might just be having a rest. I tried taking a pic with my phone, but the light was in the wrong place. If it's still there in the morning, I'll have another go.

My friends have taken up bee-keeping. Although the bees they ordered died on the way to their house :(
