The catkins popped today on the silver birch :D. It looks as though it's having a quiet little weep :(. It's such a beautiful tree.

My 8' holly tree is in flower :). However, it's a male so this is as exciting as it ever gets.

Strangely my Holly decided to flower last Autumn around October time. How can you tell if it's male or female Holly. It doesn't smoke a pipe if that's any help.

It is only about 5 feet tall and a bit of a baby in tree terms and that blossom last year was the first sign of any sexual activity(?). I'm hoping I've got a girl but my heart is saying "it's a boy :( "

Well yes. but I hoped the frost had killed the blossom and with it any chance of berries. I knowww! I'm clutching at straws but hey, a bloke can hope can't he?
