Bird Feeding Station Advice

Post by johnd83 » Sun Mar 22, 2015 2:21 pm

Good afternoon all,

Im looking for a little bit of advice regarding my feeding station. I use to get a lot of activity on is in the front garden of my old house. I recently moved to a bigger house. The new house have a lovely half lit garden surrounded by 3 trees one being a conifer. Other than the odd robin i have have no takers and had to replace the feed and gone mould.

Please help.

Little and in lots of areas?
That's what I'd suggest.
I'm sure once the word goes out, they'll start coming.

They seem to like to have a safe perch where they can land and scope out the area before moving in. But if there are too many bushes or thick trees nearby they'll probably be very hesitant as that's where predators will be. It does take time though for them to find you. I know when I set up the feeders on my window it took about 6 months to get them in regularly.

Maybe try it right in the middle of the lawn for a little while. Once they get used to it you can move it 6 inches closer to the house every few days.
