I'd guess that that's a female. From the close-ups I'm getting from the 2 blueys who have become regular customers, the female is much more scruffy than the male.

Lovely picture John.

I went to Timperley Aquatics yesterday (our local pet shop) for some peanuts and birdseed and someone had brought them a fledgeling Blue tit which had
been caught by a cat. Fortunately it was fine and the man in the pet shop had it in a small box covered with white muslin and had been feeding it crickets and mealworms. It looked in good condition and every time the cover was taken off the box it wanted to come out, although it's flying skills were not great yet. He said he was going to keep it in a few more days to get it stronger and flying better before re-releasing it in the garden. It did a bit of flying in the shop for demonstration purposes and didn't crash. It managed to perch on some cage wire, but quickly dropped to the ground. I think it had probably fledged too early really and the cat had set it back a bit. It was a bright little thing and I am sure it will be fine. The pet shop had had it a few days already and it had survived, which is a good sign. :)

That's a Made-My-Day story, Squirrel  . What a kind man - obviously in the correct job. Good for him - hope the little scrap survives.
