Loch of the Lowes - The oldest chick is having a go at the other chicks. Not just the youngest but both chicks. It is pecking and battering, one chick at a time. When attacked the other chicks get as low in the nest as possible. With a bit of luck the other chicks will get well fed and catch up in size.

I have seen this before, the first year I started watching Osprey nests. It happened at Loch Garten but only to the youngest chick which it eventually killed. Hope it doesn't happen here.

That is the reason I decided not to follow the osprey nests this year, they are just too brutal for my taste. Last year was lucky that no chicks were killed and I will stop at that  . I will just follow your posts peregrine :D

Think the youngest chick has succumbed to the attention of the oldest chick. It was lying in the nest cup not moving as the other two were being fed. Not a hundred percent sure it was the smallest chick. Of the two being fed, one was substantially bigger than the other.
