Since the cold snap began, the consumption of food, particularly suet pellets which the birds have shunned for a long time, is steadily rising. The few blackbirds have however disappeared entirely .

The ferals have returned in force again.(sorry to be going on about this again) I am rapidly reaching the point where I have to withdraw some of the food for the periods which they like most. This is usually an hour after dawn and a couple of hours before dusk. Unfortunately (for my other users) this will mean reduced availability for a while when the amount of daylight available is shrinking fast.

The ferals were exceptionally persistent today. :grumpy: Usually a couple of shoo offs is enough to send them on their way but today for some reason they kept returning time and time again and were reluctant to fly off :prod:

The birds are getting more reliant on my offering once again. Only the fat balls seem to be relatively untouched and I have no idea why.

I gave up buying fat balls, my birds never touched them, never worked out why

I only buy the more expensive fat balls. They are around £11:00 for 50. Much better than the cheaper ones, with plenty of suet. Just a smattering of seeds. They look like a ball of suet.
