A pair of Robins scoping the ivy on my front garden wall looking for a nesting spot. The same location has proved a successful recently with several broods fledging. I'm not ordering the mealworms yet but I've started saving up.

That's lovely Jack  . When you mention the front door ... would birds use the nest box if its few meters away from front door? Would they find going in and out too much disturbance?

A popular spot - hope all goes well, fingers crossed .
PS.: Perhaps bulk-buy the mealies now before panic buying sets in. Tesco is good ......

Read it again. I say front garden wall. There is no disturbance from myself but the other side of the wall has a busy footpath and road which does not seem to bother them at all. :shake:

I can't be sure, but I think a sparrowhawk was in action this morning. When I looked out the window I saw my garden full of wood pigeon's feathers, literally all over the garden. RIP woddy :(

There may have been a strike but not necessarily a kill. A Woody is at the upper end of what a Sprawk will take on and then only the female.

That might be Jack, and I thought that woddy is a bit bigger than their usual kill, but I suspect woddy is dead by the amount of feathers there was lesf behind, it really was a lot of feathers. I can't be sure it was Sprawk though, I was just guessing. Is there any other bird of pray that would go for a big target such as woody?

Aconite 3.20 003 (800x600).jpg
In the Spring sunshine today I spotted two winter aconites peeping shyly from the pampas which used to be my back lawn . Another present from the birds - a beautiful sight to treasure before The Men arrive and mow their heads off :weep:

It's come on twice again - I don't know how to erase one. Sorry.
