Re: Ospreys
Loch Garten cam still on the peanut feeders.
Loch of the Lowes cam on the osprey nest. Lots of grass growing in it. will need a good spring clean when the birds arrive.

Re: Ospreys
Hadn't looked on cams since early March. The male (LM12) at Loch of the Lowes on 15 March 2019. The female (LM15) arrived later. Mating took place and the third egg was laid on 11 April 2019. Missed all the action.
Nothing at Loch Garten yet.

Re: Ospreys
LF12 (male) just came in with a fish and LF15 (female) quickly took it off him and flew off to have a good fed. LF12 settled down to incubate the eggs.
Re: Ospreys
Eggs hatch between 35 - 40 days. Today will be the earliest that the first egg could hatch. As hatching approaches the female will start listening to the egg. LF15 is not exhibiting this kind of behaviour at the moment.
Re: Ospreys
First laid egg is due to hatch. Staff at Loch of the Lowes are not sure if it is viable after being left unattended for 2.5 hours on a cold and wet April night. Only time will tell. Tomorrow, earliest hatching of second egg.
Re: Ospreys
First chick hatched last evening around 6pm - 7pm. Staff are not sure if it is a late hatching of the first egg or an early hatching of the second egg. We will need to wait and see.
