A first for me today. Over by the hotel, a barn owl looking for food in the field that has cows in it. I was startled for a bit as it came up real close by a gap in the hedge. It turned away pretty sharp and headed for some trees.

Barn owls do hunt during the day Placi. I just looked it up. Also I reported the sighting with the Barn Owl Trust.

I keep seeing a red kite gliding high above, tried to take a picture few times but it just passes above and doesn't give me enough time to get my phone and take a picture. If I manage that will just be pure luck. When it flies a bit lower you can see just how magnificent and how big the wings on that bird are! Breathtaking :)

Just had a visitor, I believe a female Sparrowhawk. It was walking on the ground, between the hedge and the bird table, but going away from me. It was brownish in colour with distinction bars on the tail. Unfortunately it took off as I reached for the camera. Since I saw it there has been no other birds in the garden. They must have had a shock.

I was in my kitchen just earlier when I heard this thump and saw a bird striking my window :weep: . I looked out and saw that its a wood pigeon fledgling. It sat on the fence for a while and than landed on the grass near the road. I went out and stayed quietly at the distance, not to scare it, but on a look out for any neighbourhood cats. It looked like it was recovering and was just dizzy but not hurt.
I had a towel ready to throw over it if I think its hurt and needs help, but it flew away, so I guess its ok :)
Didn't see any adults around, which I found weird
