Had a female Greenfinch and chick in yesterday on the same feeder. Chick was feeding itself but if the female came near it, the chick would want fed. First Greenfinch for a long time. This was the first chick.

From today's observations and those of yesterday it seems that this years attempts at breeding have been successful for my garden visitors. All the usual suspects have youngsters either being fed or learning how to feed themselves.

I had a visit from a whole family of Jackdaws today. Mum, Dad and three very hungry fledglings. They are pillaging the fatballs :(

Aaaahh, that's nice. Always something fascinating about jackies - I think it's the stare

Today I was visited by two Chaffinch fledglings :) . I haven't seen an adult bird for nearly nine months and was beginning to believe my local population had been wiped out. :(

Yesterday morning actually - a song thrush arrived just after I'd put out a fresh helping. It couldn't believe its luck !! Stayed about 5 mins, gobbling up mainly the suet pellets.
and then came again after about 10 mins and began again.

Haven't seen it since .
