Very reassuring but I fear, for this year, blooming will be confined to the single bunch.Placido wrote: Loads of time for lavender to bloom ... and bloom ... and bloom

Jacksparrow, maybe contain your hopes until August - plenty of time yet ........

The hawthorn stand just beyond the boundary fence is in full bloom now and I see with delight that the leaves of a horse chestnut tree are poking just above the fence in its midst. Delighted by this gift from Nature
Re: WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN ??
Last year I sowed some packets of seeds (various) and stood back. The results were exiguous .
However, 2 Californian poppies (both of them ) remained bushy and green throughout the winter and today one has burst into flower (2 blooms) which caused me to examine the other one. It is covered in buds which will burst into riotous colour any time soon.
Spurred into frenzied action by the above excitement, a single, small, pot marigold (there's only one) has also partly revealed itself from beneath the largest, most vigorous pyrawotsit. Fortunately, its apologetic little flower is bright orange otherwise I should have missed it entirely.
Coincidentally, the orange perfectly replicates the colour of the Californian thingy so the co-ordination is remarkable.

Coincidently I have had a red poppy flower today on a plant I hadn't noticed growing. Nature is very sneaky innit?

My irii aren't out yet , but MN has provided me with an unexpected little vetch. It's climbing up a neighbouring plant and has purple/dark red flowers.
