KINGFISHER

Post by Placido » Tue Jan 16, 2018 7:21 pm

On the Scottish Wildlife website is a new pic of a (presumably) commercial photographer's shot of a kingfisher in action. For some reason it won't let me put it on here  but it's very good.

I saw a kingie once upon a time for quite a long period. It was down at Castle Combe one summer evening; a tiny river-type flows through the village and a kingie was fishing from the bank.
Lots of folk were watching it and it took no notice.
Brilliant !! You don't forget things like that.

When I saw the topic title I thought we were going to have a first sighting in a members garden :) Very photogenic are Kingfishers and will supply many opportunities to the patient and the skilled :photo:

One of these?

I want to cross off the kingfisher on my photo bucketlist this year if I can. I know a spot in N Wales that I'm planning a trip to on a reserve that is known for them. Fingers crossed!

I went to the Slimbridge reserve a couple of years ago hoping to spot them but blanked.

Won't work for me. However, if you google 'Shane Hardy Photography', on his Facebook site there are a sequence of the kingfisher pix which are causing me so much trouble !!

Well yes, you're quite right, Nuthatch.
Thing is, this chappie seems to like kingies a lot and has many pix.
